Technology SkillsStudents at Beck Centennial are exposed to a variety of diverse technology each week when they visit the Media Center. Our younger boys and girls experience working with Kid Pix and websites like abcya.com and starfall.com. Our older students explore Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel while also making their learning come alive with iMovie and Garageband. Book Check OutBeck students love to read and what better place to find a great book than the Beck Media Center. Students are encouraged to check out a library book each week they visit the media center. Our kindergarten through 2nd grader are able to check out one book and our 3rd through 6th graders are able to check out two books. Students should return their library book or books the day before their class visits the media center.

Digital CitizenshipOur world is getting smaller and smaller due in great part to the internet. With more and more of our lives being shared on the internet, we need to start teaching our children at an early age how to be positive digital citizens. Lessons focus on internet safety, privacy & security, cyberbullying, digital footprint, relationship & communication, self-image, information literacy, and creative credit & copyright. After these lessons we are sure your son or daughter will be ready to navigate the internet with precision and ease. Click on the link below to see the CommonSense Education scope and sequence.
